Life should always have a soundtrack. I find comfort in music, whether you are in the darkest of places, or just want to rip someone a new one, or feeling like brightest rays of sunshine are illuminating you way, there’s always someone out there that knows how you are feeling. My soundtrack for the week for now is all over the place genre speaking, but topically inclined toward the theme of love, well most. Weird how I’m single as the proverbial cheese but I’m drawn to these songs. My mind is trying to tell my heart something it doesn’t know.

Let Meg and Dia‘s words hurt you, scar you, and then heal you. Hope that they get stuck in your head like a broken arrow left in your flesh, sway to the rhythm, listen and daydream your day away, take a short or long road trip, just take the playlist as it is.

Take my music and I as we are.

The minor fall, the major lift.

Beauty and the Beast in Wonderland

I’ve recently saw the movie Beastly. Yes I realize it’s been a while since the movie came out, and yes it a cliché plot, but I rather enjoyed the music, which is why I downloaded most of the music that I heard on the film. Inspiration for my musical journey is everywhere. While Get Free by The Vines and Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie are some old favorites of mine, I found myself drawn to Vanity (which is heard in the opening credits of the movie) and Wonderland.

Of the two songs, Wonderland became my favorite. After several hundred listens I have learned that the bridge and second verse are my favorite parts of the song. The bridge:

I don’t believe in fairy tales..
I don’t believe in fairy tales..
I don’t believe in fairy tales,
but I believe in you and me!

Is repetitive, catchy and easy for listeners to learn. Needless to say, I’m certain that my family have heard my wail and scream this aloud the past couple of days.

The second verse, well I rather like what the lyrics are saying. Other than the bridge I quickly caught on to the lyrics. Okay, you caught me I latched on them and I hummed along to it in my head for most of my awake period.

When I lay my head down
to go to sleep at night..
My dreams consist of things
that’ll make you wanna hide.
Dont let me in ya your tower.
Show me your magic powers!
I’m not afraid to face
a little bit of danger, danger!
I want the love,
the money and the perfect ending
You want the same as I, I.
So stop pretending!
I wanna show you how
good we could be together..
I wanna love you through the night,
we’ll be a sweet disaster!

As all tunes that end up stuck in your head, this one also has a very nice beat. I found myself welcoming chores as long as I could listen to this song. You bet I was dancing with the broom while sweeping this past weekend! However, it did come with a downfall, as it did serve as a distraction when I “tried” to clean my room. I got caught in the music and ended up dancing around the room and possibly tripping over the many items I should have picked up instead of trying to maneuver around them.

I’d say that Wonderland has become my newest guilty pleasure. Give it a listen and it just might become one of yours.
